Dr Kathleen Yaremchuk and Dr Michael Friedman were among many participants at the American Academy of Otolaryngology annual meeting at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The two researchers have worked extensively on snoring and other sleep problems.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder also referred to as TMJ dysfunction causes the impairment of the jaw joint, the jaw itself, and the facial muscles. It may be caused by trauma or injury to the joint or facial muscles, osteoarthritis, misalignment of the joint, and stress. Temporomandibular joint disorder is caused and associated with the problems of the jaw joint, the jaw, and adjoining muscles. The causes of TMJ are injury to the temporomandibular joint, stress, rheumatoid arthritis, clenching and tooth grinding. TMJD can be diagnosed through a physical examination, full face X-rays, CT scans or magnetic resonance imaging.
