Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is common in people with severe asthma. Hoever, the causal link is not well known. The study was aimed at comparing inflammation-induced sputum and the features of airway remodelling in bronchial biopsies from adult patients with severe asthma with and without OSA. An increased proportion of neutrophils in sputum and changes in airway remodeling were noted in severe asthma patients with mild OSA.
